Tina Munjal MD is a fellowship-trained Neurotologist and Skull Base Surgeon. She received her MD from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. She then completed a seven-year research-track residency in Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery at Stanford University. Her research during this time was funded by a T32 grant from the National Institutes of Health. After residency, she completed a two-year fellowship in Otology, Neurotology, and Skull Base Surgery at Massachusetts Eye and Ear/Harvard Medical School.

Dr. Munjal was drawn to the field of medicine because it combines rigorous science with meaning in her everyday life. She enjoys the interpersonal aspects of practicing medicine, believing that diagnosis begins with listening, as a patient's story is the first and often the most important piece of data. She understands that hearing, balance, and facial function shape how a person experiences the world and connects to other people. Restoring those senses, or protecting them, is a privilege she does not take lightly.

Dr. Munjal has additional specialized training in endoscopic ear surgery, a minimally invasive approach that allows her to operate with small cameras through the ear canal. She is also proficient in robotic-assisted techniques and other innovative methods for cochlear implantation. As a surgeon-scientist, she performs clinical research which enables her to help shape the ways in which diseases like hearing loss and tinnitus will be treated in the future.

In her free time, Dr. Munjal is working towards language proficiency in Japanese. She states, “It is humbling to be a beginner at something again, because it is a useful reminder of what patients feel when they are handed a lot of unfamiliar information all at once.”
